Project 1: Writing 50 Hikes in Tennessee's Cumberland Mountains

This spring, I'll be in my home state of Tennessee, writing a guide to the Cumberland Plateau. I'll be revisiting old haunts such as the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, Savage Gulf Cumberland Gap, Frozen Head State Natural Area and more. I have been exploring the Plateau since the early 80s, so I have a wealth of experiences to draw on. I'll put in some tried and true hikes and also include some new ones, such as Scotts Gulf and Virgin Falls.

Project 2: Writing 5 Star Hikes Knoxville

This project is a day hiking guide to Knoxville, Tennessee, where I lived for 20 years. Home of the Tennessee Volunteers, it is also a great hiking town. Knoxville affords access to trails in the Tennessee River Valley, the Cumberland Plateau and the Smoky Mountains. City and state parks are abundant. The biggest problem is finding the 40 best hikes!
